The emergency treatment centre is based at Russells Hall Hospital in Dudley.
The emergency treatment centre is the umbrella name for the emergency department and the urgent treatment centre (the new name for the UCC). All patients who arrive on foot will report to the urgent treatment centre nurse streaming desk. From there, they will be directed to the urgent treatment centre reception desk or the new emergency department reception desk, depending on clinical need.
Having the two services side-by-side means patients won’t have as far to go for non-emergency care and staff will be able to work even more closely together to provide a seamless service. The new building has a urgent treatment centre waiting area and ED waiting area. The ED waiting area has a smart television which will allow staff to keep patients up to date with waiting times.
The emergency treatment centre will be open 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.
