How To Request An Appointment

Before requesting an appointment with one of our clinicians, it may be worth looking at self-referrals page to check if a surgery appointment is needed for the service you require.

Appointments can be made via:

Urgent cases are seen on the day. If your condition is non-urgent, you can expect to see a GP within two working days, though you may have to wait longer if you want to see a particular GP. Patients need not see the doctor with whom they are registered, but are encouraged to see the same doctor throughout one illness, so that he is familiar with their treatment and progress.

If you don’t need an appointment within two working days, you also have the option to book up to 4 weeks in advance if this is more convenient for you. Nurses based in our practice treat patients for a wide range of common conditions.

Urgent Appointments

We are a busy practice, and providing some same day appointments makes it easier for you to see a doctor quickly. You can phone anytime from 08:30 to 18:00 for same day appointments only.

Routine/Non-Urgent Appointments

If you need to book a routine follow-up appointment with a particular GP you can make an appointment up to four weeks in advance. Please phone after 10:30 to avoid busy times. Many routine appointments are for patients who have a long-term or chronic conditions that need monitoring on a regular basis.

It is important to continue your regular check-ups, even if you are feeling well. Routine appointments are available during normal surgery hours with the practice nurse and/or doctor.

In the Halesowen area some practices are working in partnership to provide additional GP appointments. If you need access to an evening or weekend non-urgent appointment, please call our reception team during normal opening hours. Your appointment will be with another practice in the area.

Why Might It Be Difficult to Get an Appointment

The surgery is particularly busy on Mondays and Fridays especially during the winter months. If your appointment is not urgent, try to book on a less busy day. If we can’t offer you an immediate appointment, we may ask you to call back at a specific time.

Role of Reception

Our receptionists are usually the first point of contact and are here to help you. They have a lot of information to hand and in most cases will be able to help with your enquiry, ensuring you see the most appropriate clinician. Nonetheless, it is your right to request to talk only to the doctor.

Anything that is discussed with the receptionists or any other member of the team is treated in strict confidence. You have a right to be treated courteously, and our receptionists also have a right to be treated courteously by you.

If you wish to discuss a matter in private then please notify reception and we will arrange for you to speak confidently in a separate room. Please respect the privacy of other patients by standing well back from the reception desk until your turn.

Cancelling an Appointment

If you are unable to keep your appointment, please give us as much notice as possible so that your appointment can be offered to someone else.

If you are cancelling please complete our online Cancel an Appointment triage or telephone us on 0121 550 1034 as soon as possible, and at least 30 minutes before your appointment time. This will enable us to offer your appointment to someone else.

You can contact us online to cancel your appointment.

Home Visits

Our doctors typically see four patients at the practice in the time it takes to do a single home visit. For this reason, we ask our patients to come to the practice if at all possible. The facilities at the surgery allow a more complete examination than would be possible at home. Difficulty with transport is not in itself a valid reason to request a home visit.

However, we can visit you at home if your condition means you cannot attend the practice. Please contact us before 11:00 to arrange a visit.

Please be prepared to tell the receptionist about your condition so we can visit the most urgent cases first. The doctor may wish to speak with you to see if it would be better for you to come to the surgery to be seen immediately.

Please remember, in the event of a serious medical emergency or a major injury you should call for an ambulance.

Out of Hours Service

If you need urgent medical advice during surgery hours, please phone on: 0121 550 1034. Please be prepared to give some information to the receptionist.
